Thanks, Stewart. It is a great site and now that I have finally joined it I have a number of friends I want to recommend it to. I'll wait until you have done the (oh so painful) admin. I'm sure this gets in the way of an already busy schedule buy many of us appreciate your work. Kevin

Kevin, I've had others make mention of it. As such, I'll be migrating the site to a new server, so check back in a day or two.

Stewart: Sorry to mess up this post with another matter, but I haven't been able to get the World Literature Forum for the last two days. Have tried four or five different ways (including the link here) and keep getting the "cannot display the webpage" message. No problem with any other site (obviously including me) so I don't think it is a problem at this end. Kevin

Sorry, CB, but I'm not aware of Lipstick Traces. Do you mean this book, by Greil Marcus? If so then since Marcus is a critic it me be more objective, whereas Bad Vibes is pretty much an 'I was there' memoir pouring humorous bile over almost everyone else who was there. More amusement would likely come from an awareness of bands, TV shows, and media personalities mentioned within.

but you’ve won an award...And, I’ve also given you an award.

Two awards in one day? I feel like Kate Winslet. Thanks. :-)

I know nothing about the music you describe above, but the book does sound interesting. Better than Lipstick Traces????

And, I've also given you an award. Today is your day. You can find mine here:

I hope you do read it, Jem. Were you a fan of the Auteurs at the time, or of Luke Haines in general, regardless of which of the six (as far as I'm aware of) guises he has appeared in? Or is it just the different (perhaps personal) aspect that interests you?

I think I'll be having to read this. I'm a sucker for books about that period in music - it was my little heyday, and holds many fond and not so fond memories. Its always nice to take a little visit back there from time to time, and everything looks more interesting with a bit of distance. Thanks for the recommendation.
